Key responsibilities
- Apply established safety procedures, SOPs, and policies, while helping line managers understand and implement safety requirements correctly.
- Support the rollout of new initiatives and projects in line with existing policies so the site can meet future operational needs.
- Take part in first- and third-party health and safety audits for the assigned plant or area, working closely with the Lead Safety role.
- Engage with industry groups, trade associations, and global forums to stay updated on current practices and emerging trends, and use that knowledge to improve systems and processes.
- Observe and assess safety behavior in the assigned area or plant and recommend actions that help improve safe conduct.
- Keep logbooks, occurrence records, and other shift-related documentation up to date to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Investigate safety incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and define action plans to reduce the chance of repeat incidents.
- Contribute to risk-management activities such as identifying control measures and supporting incident investigations to reduce site-level risks.
- Prepare management information reports, safety updates, findings, and performance indicators for plant leadership to improve awareness of health and safety performance.
- Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators for the assigned area or plant and drive improvement actions where required.
- Develop training content and organize safety awareness sessions for safety executives and site employees to strengthen safety capability and understanding.
- Review and analyze near-miss cases and suggest corrective and preventive actions to line management.
- Coordinate and support effective plant-level safety committee meetings.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science with a specialization in Mechanical, Chemical, Instrumentation, or Chemistry.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in process-industry site operations or maintenance.
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience handling HSE responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of safety compliance requirements and related regulations.
- Working knowledge of operations from a technical perspective.
- Experience with legal and regulatory compliance in an HSE environment.
- Ability to support HSE assurance activities and risk-management frameworks.
- Knowledge of fire safety management and incident investigation methods.
