Role overview
This position is designed for an early-career candidate to build hands-on exposure in plant operations, with a strong emphasis on safe equipment handling, process awareness, and disciplined adherence to operational standards. The role focuses on learning plant hazards, work permit practices, and safety procedures while supporting reliable day-to-day functioning of the site.
Core responsibilities
- Track and operate field equipment in line with SOPs, SOCs, LLF checklists, and on-demand reading instruments.
- Carry out condition checks using portable tools and support minor troubleshooting and basic upkeep activities.
- Work in coordination with the shift superintendent and panel executive to keep operations running smoothly.
- Collect field samples and ensure they reach the laboratory for analysis.
- Keep complete and timely logs, records, and documentation for the assigned area and equipment.
Safety, hazard control, and emergency support
- Look for practical ways to strengthen safety practices and contribute ideas that improve the safety culture.
- Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials and plant waste.
- Support contract staff in maintaining safe work methods.
- Follow safe operating limits and help reinforce compliance across the work area.
- Serve as a first responder during emergencies and take prompt action to reduce risk to people and assets.
- Coordinate with safety engineers and other stakeholders to report, examine, and resolve safety issues quickly.
Coordination and permit compliance
- Interact with field executives and shift field engineers to support efficient plant activity.
- Maintain clear communication with contractors to ensure tasks are executed safely and effectively.
- Approve permits only after confirming that the work area is free from hazards and meets safety expectations.
- Work with the safety in-charge to follow and document permit-related procedures properly.
Improvement and learning
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve operating methods and safety controls.
- Keep learning current safety guidelines and management practices such as TQM, EFQM, QCC, and 5S, along with relevant technical knowledge.
Education and experience
The required qualification is a diploma in a relevant engineering discipline or a BSc/MSc in Chemistry. The role is open to candidates with 0 to 2 years of experience. Familiarity with field areas and plant equipment is expected. Preferred exposure includes use of ODR devices, basic troubleshooting, and minor maintenance tasks.

Performance expectations
- Maintain at least 95% adherence to safety procedures and guidelines.
- Handle emergencies with a 100% success outcome.
- Put forward at least two safety improvement ideas every quarter.
- Complete all equipment monitoring checks required under SOPs and SOCs.
- Contribute one improvement each month to reduce waste in chemical handling and waste management.
- Recommend and implement measures that can improve equipment performance by 5% over the year.
