Role Purpose

The Site Safety Officer (FMCC) is responsible for driving safety compliance at the mining site in line with DGMS requirements. The role focuses on eliminating non-conformities during safety audits, cutting down unsafe incidents, identifying hazards, and ensuring that workers receive proper safety induction. It also includes safety training, emergency planning, and review meetings to support a strong safety culture and full legal compliance in mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the implementation of safety standards and statutory requirements for mining activities, with special attention to hazards such as coal dust, electrical systems, fire risks, and other site-specific dangers.

Address observations raised in DGMS safety audits and work toward zero non-conformities while continuously strengthening safety performance.

Keep accurate records and documentation to ensure compliance with DGMS instructions and all applicable legal requirements, and participate in regular safety review meetings to close gaps.

Carry out detailed hazard identification and risk assessment exercises to spot potential risks across the mine.

Design and apply risk-control measures to reduce threats to people and property, and update those controls as site conditions change.

Investigate safety compromises, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat incidents.

Conduct safety induction sessions for new employees so they understand procedures and site-specific risks.

Support vocational training such as gas testing and first aid to build practical safety capability among employees.

Ensure suitable safety equipment and related resources are available to protect workers during operations.

Take part in safety week activities and safety council meetings to encourage safer work practices.

Prepare emergency response plans for likely mine emergencies, including coal dust explosions, electrical failures, fires, and similar situations.

Run mock drills and practice sessions to test response readiness and improve preparedness.

Work with emergency services and regulatory bodies to coordinate response actions and strengthen site emergency planning.

Partner with cross-functional teams to implement digital tools that support business goals and improve team productivity.

Promote the use of digital platforms to improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum education required: B.Tech/B.E in Mining.

Experience expected: 10 to 20 years.

This position is based in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, India and is a full-time, on-site role.
