Job description
Role overview
This position sits within a Trust & Safety function focused on keeping the platform’s community protected. The team uses both human review and machine-supported moderation to remove harmful material quickly, often before it can reach the wider audience.
The Quality Assurance specialist will own the quality outcomes for internal or external stakeholders, remove obstacles that limit performance, support the team in achieving high standards, and contribute reporting and performance monitoring that helps drive team growth and success.
The successful candidate should be comfortable partnering with cross-functional teams to understand project needs, work effectively in uncertain situations, and establish clear SMART objectives for themselves and the team. They should also be ready to take full ownership of the role, recommend process improvements, and help shape best-practice QA methods.
Key duties
- Work independently and alongside stakeholders to maintain strong performance standards across assigned projects and build a sustainable quality model.
- Run regular calibration sessions with stakeholders to keep knowledge aligned and quality expectations consistent, and gather feedback on execution.
- Coordinate with the Policy point of contact to share policy updates, keep teams informed, and route policy questions efficiently between internal and external partners.
- Carry out daily audits, review errors, and provide practical feedback to the teams involved.
- Prepare and share recurring performance reports with subject matter experts and management as needed.
- Handle root-cause analysis escalations through the appropriate process.
- Spot improvement opportunities across markets and proactively propose workable solutions.
- Join or lead policy briefings so updates remain aligned with local cultural, social, geographic, and political context.
- Manage queue delivery efficiently across relevant platforms such as TCS or Rock Appeal.
- Support or temporarily cover gaps in market support when required.
- Assist the onboarding team in improving onboarding SOPs, training materials, and legacy-planning efforts.
- Take part in regular queue moderation or knowledge quizzes to keep policy application skills sharp.
- Help design and roll out a training plan according to the agreed timeline.
- Work with content that may include sensitive material such as vulgar content, violence, pornography, and fake news.
Required experience and qualifications
Applicants should have at least 1 year of QA experience, or a closely related background in trust and safety or policy work within a major technology or media company.
They need to show strong business awareness, strategic thinking, and sound judgment in complex situations. Familiarity with the logic of labeling workflows and the interaction between upstream and downstream teams is also important.
High-level Norwegian proficiency is mandatory because the role involves written and spoken communication with Norwegian markets, and English fluency is required as the working language.
The role also calls for comfort working with a wide range of cross-functional partners, quick learning ability, and adaptability in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred background
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in the short-video product user space is preferred.
Experience in content moderation, content quality, content safety, or labeling would be an advantage, as would familiarity with Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Knowledge of machine learning and content understanding, along with strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, is also beneficial.
Trust & Safety environment
Work in this area may involve exposure to images, video, and text covering everyday life as well as harmful or sensitive topics, including bullying, hate speech, child safety, self-harm, harm to others, and harm to animals. This means the position can involve frequent exposure to distressing material.
The company acknowledges that this type of work can be rewarding yet psychologically demanding and emotionally taxing. For that reason, it shares the nature of the risks upfront and states a commitment to employee wellbeing through evidence-based support programs and a person-centred approach to physical and mental health.
