Job description

Role overview

This position is for a Safety & Health Coordinator based at the Mumbai head office. The role reports to the Head of Occupational Health & Safety and focuses on strengthening safety systems, supporting process safety work, and helping the business maintain a strong safety culture.

Qualification and experience

The preferred background is a degree in Engineering, specifically Chemical, Textile, or Mechanical, along with a Diploma in Industrial Safety or a specialization in Process Safety. Candidates should bring 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role.

Key responsibilities

  • Build, refine, and roll out safety standards and procedures for the business, and work closely with site teams to ensure they are followed.
  • Coordinate with the Process Safety Committee and unit teams on the main elements of Process Safety Management.
  • Track the progress of unit and business safety committees and share timely feedback with the Head of OH&S to support future planning.
  • Support site teams in carrying out risk assessments, process hazard analyses, HIRA, process safety studies, and mitigation planning, including the Management Program, Emergency Response Plan, and Crisis Management Plan.
  • Define SHE expectations for vendors and contractors, including scope requirements, and review their safety performance on a regular basis.
  • Provide safety-related design inputs to the design team during concept development so that the workplace is safe from the start.
  • Deliver training for managers, supervisors, and workers on SHE practices and applicable legislation.
  • Compile, analyze, and coordinate safety data to support the Safety and Occupational Health function.
  • Assist site teams in using Enablon and SHIELD for data reporting and analysis.
  • Create training content, email communications, one-pagers, and similar material on safety topics and themes.
  • Gather and prepare data for the quarterly safety newsletter and other safety communication materials.
  • Maintain the safety data management center and keep it organized and up to date.
  • Upload and refresh safety information on the central SHIELD portal.
  • Track action items with sites and follow up until closure and status updates are completed.

Additional information

This role also includes coordination, documentation, and communication responsibilities related to safety systems, reporting, and continuous improvement across sites.
