Job description
Job Context & Major Challenges
The plant in Nagda, established over 50 years ago, presents a unique operational environment with a blend of older and modern machinery, making plant management complex. The emergence of new plants with advanced technology creates a competitive challenge for the existing facility's growth. Therefore, there is a critical need to enhance technology and consistently deliver products at competitive prices to meet customer expectations.
For instrumentation, the plant has transitioned from pneumatic controls to single-loop digital controllers and is now moving towards a Distributed Control System (DCS) platform, integrating all energy centers onto a common system.
Major Challenges
- Implement and maintain cost reduction initiatives by adopting new technologies, particularly in electronics, to minimize plant disturbances, reduce unplanned downtime, and lower maintenance expenses.
- Ensure the control room environment is maintained at a "G1" level to facilitate the proper functioning of delicate electronic components and prevent malfunctions.
- Select critical equipment suitable for highly corrosive atmospheres, as this directly impacts plant performance.
Key Result Areas
Quality and Quantity
- Plan, develop, monitor, and execute all modification, development, and routine/non-routine instrumentation activities across all energy centers. This ensures optimal steam and power supply to the SFD and Chemical divisions, enabling them to achieve production targets within cost and quality parameters.
Technological Advancement
- Identify bottlenecks within all energy centers and resolve them using available resources. If internal resources are insufficient, adopt modern instrumentation solutions.
Safety
- Conduct safety observations in grid areas, facilitate toolbox talks, and ensure adherence to the New Work Permit system in all operational zones.
People Development
- Foster and develop human resources to cultivate a dynamic Instrumentation team. Appraise, inspire, and motivate subordinates to maximize their performance in alignment with departmental goals.
