Job description

Purpose

This role is integral to the operational success of the organization, focusing on Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to evaluate material properties without causing damage. The technician will conduct inspections to identify potential corrosion, cracks, or other defects that could compromise material integrity. The position requires the application of IRATA Rope Access techniques as needed, with work sites located onshore, offshore, and across the Middle East and North Africa region.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the site supervisor or superintendent, ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of NDT inspection jobs for clients.
  • Utilize rope access techniques, under the guidance of a certified IRATA Level 3 supervisor, to access work areas at height when necessary.
  • Perform daily routine NDT inspections using methods such as Ultrasonics, Radiography, Magnetic Particle, Liquid/Dye Penetrant, and Eddy Current.
  • Conduct Ultrasonic Testing (UT) on components requiring inspection.
  • Ensure the safety of the work area before commencing NDT activities.
  • Perform risk assessments and Take II as required.
  • Verify that inspections are conducted within the parameters of applicable specifications.
  • Conduct routine tests on equipment and consumables to confirm they are in good working order, reporting any issues to supervision immediately.
  • Evaluate test results according to applicable specifications.
  • Generate clear and concise reports detailing inspection methods, results, findings, and any applicable limitations or restrictions.
  • Complete work in a timely and efficient manner, adapting to changing priorities as needed.
  • Adhere to Oceaneering's operating procedures and all statutory/client specifications and requirements.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties assigned by management.
  • Comply with the Company's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems.

Additional Duties

  • The scope of duties is not exhaustive and may include other reasonably expected tasks.
  • Assist with other duties as required.
  • Undertake specific projects as directed by management.

Perform assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems. Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not involve direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • PCN or CSWIP certificates are preferred over third-party ASNT certificates.
  • Required certifications include PCN/CSWIP/ASNT Level 2 in Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Dye/Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
  • PCN/CSWIP/ASNT Level 2 in Eddy Current Testing (ET) is preferred.
  • IRATA Rope Access certification at Level 1 or 2 is required.
  • A degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification is necessary.
  • Possession of Offshore medical, annual eye test, BOSIET & MIST certification, and Cat EBS, Bi-Deltoid Measurement is required.
  • Third-party ASNT certificate holders must successfully complete Oceaneering's certification process to be eligible for the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant inspection techniques within the oil and gas industry is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows-based programs is essential.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to foster a team-oriented problem-solving environment are important.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Analytical skills, including synthesizing complex information, collecting and researching data, and designing workflows.
