Job description

Company Overview

Bantrel is an established Canadian EPC/EPCM services provider with four decades of experience delivering end-to-end solutions for major energy, mining, infrastructure, and nuclear projects. The company prioritizes safety and quality, with engineering and procurement work carried out from Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto, and construction management services delivered at client locations across Canada.

Bantrel operates independently while drawing on the global expertise of Bechtel Corporation. The business also remains firmly Canada-focused through its shareholder, McCaig Investments, and benefits from long-term planning supported by strong financial stability.

Role Summary

An opportunity is available for a Risk Analyst to support the Delivery Partner team on Metrolinx’s Ontario Line, a major transit expansion program in Toronto. This full-time permanent position sits within Bantrel’s Infrastructure team and contributes to a large, multi-year project aimed at improving connectivity, transit capacity, and travel times across the Greater Toronto Area.

The role is based in downtown Toronto and requires in-office attendance five days per week. The posted base salary for this location and opportunity is CAD 100,000 to CAD 125,000 per year.

Core Duties

  • Administer and keep current the project risk and issue registers using the approved systems and tools.
  • Work with risk owners to identify risks, record them properly, and update mitigation measures.
  • Organize and assist with risk workshops, review sessions, and risk identification meetings.
  • Monitor high-priority risks, critical items, and new issues, escalating them in a timely manner when needed.
  • Evaluate input from contractors and stakeholders to spot emerging or changing risks.
  • Help develop mitigation plans and maintain them as the project evolves.
  • Protect the quality, consistency, and timeliness of risk data and reporting.
  • Prepare risk reports, dashboards, and summary materials for project stakeholders.
  • Support recurring risk reviews and ensure mitigation actions are followed through.
  • Contribute to quantitative risk assessments, including QCRA and QSRA activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to support broader risk management work.

Qualifications

  • A degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Approximately five years of experience in project controls, risk management, or a comparable function in infrastructure, construction, or EPC/EPCM settings is expected.
  • Background supporting risk processes on large and complex projects is preferred.
  • Working familiarity with risk management tools and systems is needed.
  • Advanced Excel capability is important; experience with Power BI or Power Apps is considered an advantage.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders effectively are required.
  • The candidate should be able to work independently while still contributing within a larger project team.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines is important.

What Makes This Opportunity Attractive

  • Exposure to a major, complex transit infrastructure program.
  • Opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Practical experience with formal risk processes, including QCRA and QSRA.
  • Competitive compensation and a strong learning environment.
  • Interesting and challenging work with room for career growth.
  • Immediate access to a comprehensive benefits package covering extended health, dental, vision, prescription drugs, and flexible health and personal spending accounts, with no waiting period.
  • Employer Group RRSP plan with no required matching contribution.
