Job description

Company overview

Bantrel is a Canadian EPC/EPCM services provider with four decades of experience delivering integrated solutions for demanding energy, mining, infrastructure, and nuclear projects. The company supports design and procurement from its Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto offices, while also delivering construction management and self-perform construction services at client sites across the country.

The organization operates independently, draws on the global expertise of Bechtel Corporation, and is also backed by McCaig Investments. Its private ownership supports long-term planning, financial stability, and strategic decision-making.

Role summary

Bantrel is hiring an experienced Contract Administrator to support its team in Bethune, Saskatchewan, within the Regina area. The role centers on monitoring subcontract progress, identifying and escalating financial, legal, and technical issues, drafting change orders, and negotiating settlements with subcontractors.

This position supports Bantrel’s work with K+S Potash Canada as part of an Integrated Project Management Team for the expansion of the Bethune solution potash mine near Moose Jaw and Regina. The project is intended to increase production over the coming decades to 4 million tonnes per year, which would double current potash output.

Team members may also work with stakeholders based in Saskatoon, Bethune, Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto as needed. Bantrel is also growing its Saskatoon presence as part of a broader Saskatchewan and Western Canada growth plan focused on mining, energy transition, and industrial work.

Work location and schedule

This is a site-based role in Bethune, SK. The schedule follows a 9 days on / 5 days off rotation with 10-hour workdays. A living out allowance or relocation support may be available if the candidate meets eligibility criteria. The site is considered convenient for commuting from Regina and Moose Jaw.

The position is offered as a full-time permanent opportunity, and the company is looking for someone who will contribute to a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Key responsibilities

The Contract Administrator will manage subcontract administration activities and may use client systems where required. The role includes checking insurance certificates for compliance, preparing commitment authorizations and change orders, and representing Bantrel or the client in contract discussions.

The position also involves interpreting subcontract terms and conditions, executing commitments within delegated authority, preparing management status updates, coordinating with internal teams on contractual and operational matters, and facilitating contract progress review meetings and rolling action item list sessions.

In addition, the role requires correspondence tracking, file maintenance, assignment and follow-up of action items, monitoring open contractual issues, reviewing invoices for progress payments, verifying deductions and contract compliance before payment, reconciling contractor accounts, obtaining lien releases and final payments, completing close-out activities, preparing contractor evaluations, and participating in project or operational reviews and audits.

What the role requires

The ideal candidate should bring at least 15 years of progressive experience, including a minimum of 10 years supporting large and complex construction projects in mining, oil and gas, infrastructure, or heavy industrial settings.

Strong senior-level knowledge is needed in commercial management, contract law, subcontract administration, negotiation, pricing approaches, claims prevention, and risk control. Experience in active construction environments is essential, along with a strong grasp of site execution, commercial governance, and contractual exposure.

The role also calls for proven collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across project management, engineering, construction, project controls, finance, and accounting. The candidate should be comfortable managing client expectations, working directly with senior stakeholders, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors, and maintaining alignment with contract obligations and project goals.

Excellent judgment, integrity, emotional intelligence, communication, and presentation skills are important, as is the ability to engage confidently with executives, clients, regulators, and site-based teams. A team-oriented leadership style, mentoring mindset, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while preserving compliance and schedule discipline are also important.

Benefits and workplace support

Bantrel offers a competitive compensation package, a strong learning environment, challenging work, and opportunities for advancement.

  • Immediate access to extended health, dental, vision, prescription, and flexible health/personal spending accounts, with no waiting period
  • Employer RRSP program with no matching contribution required
  • Eligibility for the Earned Day Off program, which provides alternate Fridays off based on the annual calendar
  • Hybrid remote work availability of up to 52 days per year, subject to eligibility

The company also emphasizes community involvement, employee volunteering, corporate philanthropy, and an inclusive workplace culture. It welcomes applications from people with disabilities and Indigenous candidates, and accommodations are available during the recruitment process upon request.
