This position calls for an experienced finance leader to act as a commercial partner and safeguard financial control across a fast-growing division of Henry Schein One in Canada. The role suits someone who is highly driven, confident working independently, and able to push the business forward while ensuring strong stewardship of financial processes and commitments.

What you will do

  • Work closely with the General Manager and the leaders of the Commercial and Academic businesses to shape strategy and investment decisions.
  • Build financial plans and forecasts that support growth targets.
  • Introduce automation and AI-based tools to improve efficiency across finance and wider business operations.
  • Push business leaders to stay accountable to financial commitments.
  • Keep financial controls strong while ensuring reporting remains accurate and timely.
  • Develop and manage high-performing finance teams that can support internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enable the team and the wider business to operate with strong productivity and quality.
  • Own the reporting timetable so finance deliverables are met on schedule.
  • Build cross-functional relationships and use influence to drive alignment.
  • Attend business review meetings and oversee all required materials.

Key accountabilities

  • Run the finance operation for Canada, including financial control, reporting, and transactional finance responsibilities.
  • Build an engaged, high-performing finance team through coaching, development, and change leadership.
  • Position finance as a true business partner by strengthening relationships and offering commercial insight.
  • Handle compliance and regulatory responsibilities, including quarterly reporting, SOX, and internal controls.
  • Ensure financial reporting and KPIs are delivered on time, accurately, and in a way that evolves with business needs.
  • Improve forecasting accuracy and make sure leadership understands risks and opportunities versus original targets.
  • Coordinate profit improvement plans and corrective actions where needed.
  • Lead the annual statutory audit and manage external auditor relationships.
  • Own the preparation, approval, and ongoing maintenance of the annual budget.
  • Roll out company-wide initiatives within the finance function.
  • Drive finance transformation and continuous improvement work by applying knowledge from other parts of the business.
  • Support an inclusive and diverse culture aligned with the company values.
  • Work with the International Finance Director to set targets for long-range plans and budgets.
  • Build investment models to assess whether projects are financially viable.

Finance systems and tools

The role involves working with MS Business Central, Great Plains, JD Edwards, Oracle HFM, PBCS, Salesforce, HubSpot, and Microsoft Office.

What you need to bring

  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior finance leadership role.
  • Professional accounting qualification.
  • Background in SaaS or technology.
  • A track record of building, leading, and transforming finance teams.
  • Experience presenting, communicating, and influencing at senior leadership level.
  • Ability to explain technically complex finance matters clearly and influence stakeholders at different levels.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel capability.
  • Experience in a highly regulated or globally listed environment, including exposure to US GAAP, SOX, IFRS, or local GAAP.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is an advantage.

Pay and benefits

The expected base salary for this role is CAD $165,000 to CAD $185,000, depending on experience, skills, certifications, education, and other relevant factors. Benefits include 3% RRSP matching, a comprehensive health plan with 100% drug coverage, 3 weeks of paid vacation that can increase to 5 weeks with tenure, unlimited paid flex days, and a paid birthday off.
