Job description
Position Summary
The Department of Justice, Home Affairs & Migration is seeking to fill the position of Revenue Sheriff covering counties Clare, Limerick, Offaly, and Tipperary.
Key Responsibilities
As outlined in Section 12 of the Court Officers Act 1945, the Revenue Sheriff is tasked with enforcing certificates of tax liability (warrants) issued by the Revenue Commissioners related to overdue taxes. Additionally, the Sheriff acts as a designated receiver of fines under the Fines (Payment and Recovery) Act, 2014, and is responsible for collecting fines arising from court recovery orders.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ experience as a practicing solicitor or barrister within the state, or have served as a managing clerk or principal assistant to a Sheriff. Furthermore, at least three years' experience in debt recovery is required. Holding a current Tax Clearance Certificate is mandatory.
