Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager will oversee all facets of store operations, boost sales performance, guarantee operational excellence, uphold customer service standards, and lead the in-store team for Tommy Bahama. This role demands a vibrant leader knowledgeable in retail KPIs, staff management, inventory oversight, and adherence to local regulations. The manager will be responsible for profitability, ensuring superior store performance and nurturing employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to reach monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales and profit goals.
- Regularly observe store performance indicators including sales targets, conversion rates, units per transaction (UPT), average transaction value (ATV), and foot traffic patterns.
- Spot revenue growth opportunities through strategic promotions, upselling, and cross-selling techniques.
- Analyze sales data and craft actionable plans to address deficits and maximize expansion.
- Manage daily store operations, including opening and closing tasks, cash handling, and administrative responsibilities.
- Maintain high standards for store presentation, cleanliness, safety, and visual merchandising in alignment with brand standards.
- Execute and uphold company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) such as cash management, stock handling, refund/exchange processes, and loss prevention measures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws, health and safety codes, and government regulations.
- Supervise, guide, and cultivate a team composed of Sales Associates, Senior Sales Associates, and Store In-Charge personnel.
- Perform frequent performance evaluations, deliver one-on-one coaching, and initiate motivational programs to enhance team output.
- Manage staff scheduling, leave allocation, and ensure adequate staff presence to maintain smooth operations.
- Encourage a collaborative, results-driven team culture by recognizing top performers and managing performance issues appropriately.
- Promote a customer-centric environment by ensuring the team provides consistent, excellent service.
- Promptly and professionally address complex customer complaints and escalations.
- Train staff on product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer engagement etiquette.
- Oversee inventory levels, identify trends in fast- and slow-moving merchandise, and implement corrective steps.
- Supervise stock replenishment, organization of storerooms, damage reporting, and inter-store goods transfers.
- Guarantee complete accuracy in stock counts and coordinate stock audits, stocktakes, and investigations into losses.
- Collaborate with merchandising and purchasing teams to maintain the optimal product assortment and availability.
- Deliver accurate and timely sales reports, staff rosters, cost summaries, and operational checklists.
- Monitor key performance figures and create monthly performance dashboards.
- Keep thorough records of store expenditures and petty cash handling.
- Coordinate with Human Resources regarding staffing needs, disciplinary measures, and employee grievances.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree required.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Formal training in Customer Service Excellence or Retail Sales is preferred.
- Minimum 7-9 years of retail experience, including 3-5 years in a managerial position.
- Strong background in high-traffic retail locations with proven team leadership skills.
- Experience in fashion retail is an advantage.
- Demonstrated success in managing teams, delivering excellent customer service, and meeting sales targets.
