About the Role
Mitre 10 is a well-known locally owned and operated New Zealand brand with stores across the country. This opportunity is based at the Ponsonby store and is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, created to support the store through a busy trading period. It suits someone who enjoys helping customers, thrives in a busy retail setting, and wants to be part of a practical, customer-focused team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Talking with customers and helping them choose the right products and solutions for their needs.
- Following store processes to help keep stock records accurate and items properly accounted for.
- Using a stepladder for light merchandising and stock placement tasks when needed.
- Supporting different areas of the store across multiple departments as required.
- Completing everyday shop-floor duties to help maintain a tidy, safe, and well-run store.
- Stepping in at the checkout from time to time during busy periods or staff breaks.
- Working a 40-hour week that includes one weekend day.
- Contributing to a positive, energetic team atmosphere and staying engaged with colleagues.
- Managing time well, working independently when needed, and collaborating effectively with others.
- Feeling supported, heard, and part of a team that values input and involvement.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with retail experience and some knowledge of DIY or home improvement products. You should feel confident approaching customers, enjoy working as part of a team, and bring a friendly, solution-oriented attitude. The role also requires enough strength and fitness to handle merchandising and service-related tasks. A willingness to keep learning, develop your skills, and help others grow is important too.

Additional Information
This role is based in Ponsonby, Auckland, and is an onsite position. The working pattern includes one weekend day each week. The position is intended for someone who is ready to contribute during a busy season and be an active part of a fast-moving retail team.
