Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Sales and Service Manager, the Retail Sales Associate focusing on Hard Goods is responsible for engaging customers in multiple areas such as Simulators, Putting Green, Club Repair, and Accessories. This position plays a critical role in driving sales and elevating customer experience by combining expert product knowledge with excellent customer service. The role also includes assisting with front-end operations, maintaining merchandise presentation, and ensuring equipment and supplies are kept in optimal condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Connect proactively with every customer to deliver outstanding service aligned with PGA TOUR Superstore’s service standards, fostering long-term customer relationships.
- Actively seek and engage customers within the Hard Goods departments to promote products and services.
- Support front-end store operations including handling returns, exchanges, gift cards, lesson redemptions, loyalty awards, discounts, promotions, and coupons.
- Ensure Hard Goods merchandise, including items in Simulators, Putting Green, and Accessories, is displayed attractively and fully stocked to boost sales and enhance customer experience.
- Maintain cleanliness, operational readiness, and professional appearance of assigned areas and equipment.
- Possess and share extensive knowledge about golf clubs, explaining their features, advantages, and distinctions effectively to customers.
- Conduct proper club fittings according to the company’s trained fitting procedures to assist customers in selecting the correct shaft, grip, and specifications for peak performance.
- Abide by ethical standards and safety rules while supporting compliance efforts throughout all departments.
- Stay informed about current and upcoming promotions and marketing activities to maintain dynamic merchandising throughout promotional campaigns.
- Advocate for PGA TOUR Superstore’s products and services by educating and informing customers effectively.
- Communicate regularly with the Sales and Service Manager to offer feedback on operations and merchandising, aiming to uphold an exceptional customer experience.
Candidate Qualifications and Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent listening, verbal, and written communication capabilities, facilitating effective cross-functional communication.
- Basic proficiency in computer use, especially familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines and objectives efficiently.
- Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in retail sales, customer service, or closely related roles is preferred.
- Capable of physically demanding activities including standing for long periods, climbing ladders, moving within the store, and lifting items weighing up to 30 pounds overhead.
- Flexible scheduling availability is necessary, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness and ability to quickly absorb business knowledge through training.
- Self-motivated with strong accountability and a proactive approach to achieving results.
