Job description

About the Organization

Selah Freedom is a faith-driven nonprofit centered on Christian values and committed to helping end sex trafficking and support people who have been exploited. The organization operates with a Christ-centered approach and is guided by core beliefs about Scripture, God, and the role of faith in its work.

The team emphasizes five values in its culture: ownership, collaboration, gratitude, communication, and balance. These values shape how staff support survivors as they move toward healing and restoration.

Role Overview

In this residential support role, you will work directly with survivors of sex trafficking who are living in the organization’s safe housing program in Manatee County. Your work will involve coordinating support, helping with planning and assessments, arranging transportation, and linking residents to outside services. The position contributes to building a secure, compassionate, and faith-based environment where women can recover and rebuild their lives.

Key Duties

  • Assist residents with assessments, service planning, and support related to legal, medical, housing, and mental health needs.
  • Arrange dependable transportation for residents to appointments, work, classes, and community-based activities.
  • Keep client records current and accurate in the organization’s database.
  • Participate in required meetings and training sessions, including continued learning on trauma, substance use, and sex trafficking.
  • Help maintain a residential setting that reflects the organization’s Christ-centered mission and values.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminology, or another related behavioral science field is preferred, though relevant experience may be accepted in place of formal education. Prior exposure to trauma-informed care, substance abuse treatment, or work with survivors of exploitation is an advantage. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required. The schedule must remain flexible, with availability for weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays.

Physical and Work Conditions

This position may involve lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds. Travel can be part of the job, and the work environment is described as having a moderate noise level.

Equal Opportunity and Faith-Based Preference

The employer states that it is an equal opportunity organization and does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or other protected characteristics under applicable law. As a faith-based employer, it also reserves the right to favor applicants who agree with and support its Statement of Faith, as permitted by Section 702 of the Civil Rights Act.

Why This Role Matters

This position is presented as more than standard employment; it is framed as service-oriented work for those who want to use their skills to support healing, freedom, and long-term restoration.
