Job description

Role overview

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Research Pharmacy Assistant to support its pharmacy clinical trials work. The role sits within a team focused on maintaining the receipt, storage, dispensing and accountability of clinical trial medicines across the Trust, helping patients gain access to new treatments through study protocols.

The Trust’s work spans a broad range of specialties, including cancer, neurology, stroke, rheumatology and early phase medicine, with around 300 clinical trials currently open to recruitment involving investigational medicinal products (IMPs).

UCLH places strong emphasis on its organisational values: Safety, Kindness, Improving and Teamwork. The organisation is committed to high-quality patient care, strong education and internationally recognised research.

What the role involves

You will work as part of the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Unit/Team under the supervision of Pharmacy Clinical Trial Technicians and/or Pharmacists. The post supports the Principal Pharmacist (R&D) in developing and maintaining the pharmacy clinical trial service across the Trust, while ensuring an efficient and high-quality service for both internal and external customers.

The position covers activity across five active sites within UCLH where studies are conducted, and you will be accountable on a day-to-day basis to the Lead Research Technicians.

Candidate profile

This opportunity is described as a good fit for a newly qualified graduate or for someone with experience in a community healthcare environment who would value structured mentoring and ongoing support from a close-knit team.

Eligibility and work authorisation

Applications are only open to people who already have the legal right to work in the UK. The employer has confirmed that this post does not meet the requirements for sponsorship under UK visa sponsorship rules, so sponsorship cannot be provided.

About the organisation

UCLH is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK, serving a large and diverse population through academically led acute and specialist services. The Trust operates across eight sites, including University College Hospital (with the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing), National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals, University College Hospital Grafton Way Building, Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine, University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre, The Hospital for Tropical Diseases, and University College Hospital at Westmoreland Street.

The Trust delivers diagnosis and treatment across a wide range of complex conditions, with particular expertise in women’s health and in cancer, infection, neurological, gastrointestinal and oral diseases. It also provides world-class support services such as critical care, imaging, nuclear medicine and pathology.
