Job description

About the Role

The National University of Singapore's Lloyd's Register Foundation Institute is seeking a Research Fellow to join the IPUR research team. Reporting to the Director, this role focuses on advancing research programmes that examine risk perceptions and communication related to artificial intelligence (AI) and technological risks both locally within Singapore and abroad. The Fellow will play a key part in the design, management, and execution of both qualitative and quantitative research investigating public attitudes and behavioral responses to AI and technology risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement primary and secondary data collection for research projects.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data sets to derive insights.
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews, and prepare research briefings and summaries.
  • Support fieldwork activities and act as a liaison to field researchers.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and institute reporting for stakeholders.
  • Organize seminars, events, and outreach initiatives to promote research findings.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in economics, statistics, psychology, information technology, or related discipline. Experience in applied research is preferred. Strong quantitative research skills, especially in designing and analyzing surveys or experiments using tools such as STATA or R, are highly valued. Excellent organizational abilities and written and spoken English fluency are essential. An interest and awareness of AI and technological issues are important, along with a strong eagerness to learn new subjects and methodologies.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, one-year position based onsite at the Kent Ridge Campus in Singapore.
