Job description

Position Summary

The Equity Research team at a leading investment bank is looking for a motivated and skilled Research Associate to join its US Building Products sector team in New York, NY. This role supports a Senior Analyst by delivering detailed sector research and financial insights within a global sell-side equity research environment. Candidates should bring strong analytical abilities, an eye for detail, and a passion for capital markets, ideally with experience in financial analysis in domains such as sell-side or buy-side equity research, investment banking, private equity, accounting, or directly within the Building Products industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and update thorough financial models and valuation analyses for public companies in the US Building Products space.
  • Perform comprehensive primary and secondary market research, analyzing industry trends and competitive dynamics.
  • Convert complex financial data and analyses into clear written reports, presentations, and communications for clients.
  • Partner with the Senior Analyst on ongoing research tasks, special projects, and generation of new investment ideas.
  • Rapidly analyze and distill large datasets to extract principal trends and drivers within the Building Products sector.
  • Engage with company management, industry experts, and investors to validate research findings and hypotheses.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in financial modeling and valuation techniques relevant to industrial companies.
  • Exceptional accuracy and thoroughness in work output.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex data efficiently and synthesize actionable insights.
  • Excellent written communication skills suitable for authoring research materials.
  • Effective verbal communication and presentation capabilities to convey research outcomes clearly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Artificial Intelligence tools.

Preferred Competencies

  • Prior exposure to sell-side research, buy-side roles, investment banking, private equity, accounting, or direct industry experience in Building Products.
  • Familiarity with financial data platforms such as Bloomberg and other analytical tools.
  • Capacity to juggle multiple projects efficiently in a high-velocity environment.
  • A curious, proactive approach toward work challenges and learning.
