Job description

About the role

This opportunity is with the Centre for Research on Successful Ageing (ROSA) at Singapore Management University. The appointment is a one-year contract supporting research, publications, outreach, and centre operations.

Research and publications

  • Support quantitative analysis, questionnaire design, and wider research assistance for policy briefs and scholarly journal work.
  • Work with government ministries and agencies on collaborative research projects.
  • Contribute to academic publications, including co-authoring with researchers from economics, sociology, psychology, and data science.

External engagement

  • Respond to information requests from researchers and others interested in the panel.
  • Prepare reports and presentation materials for external stakeholders and audiences.
  • Take part in outreach efforts such as symposiums, workshops, seminars, roundtables, and conferences.
  • Support community outreach initiatives, international research partnerships, and fundraising activities involving private and public sector organisations.
  • Depending on strengths and preference, represent the Centre in external settings such as the media, professional associations, government forums, or similar platforms.

Administrative support

  • Carry out additional administrative work assigned by the Centre as needed.

Qualifications

The research assistant role requires a bachelor's degree, while the research associate role requires a master's degree. A background in economics or the social sciences is preferred. Candidates should be strong users of Microsoft Office tools, comfortable with research methods, and quantitatively skilled with experience in STATA or SPSS. The role also calls for high attention to detail, strong organisational ability, independence in handling projects end to end, and the capacity to manage several tasks at once. Applicants should be able to support and train colleagues, collaborate effectively in teams, take on leadership when required, and communicate research methods and survey findings clearly and succinctly in both speech and writing. An interest in learning new analytical tools and techniques is also important.
