About the Role
The Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is looking for a Research Assistant to support Principal Investigators and research teams. This position primarily involves managing the collection, organization, and maintenance of data relevant to ongoing studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate routine and custom data reports as needed.
- Utilize common software applications to review and validate data.
- Support data cleaning processes to ensure data accuracy and prepare data tables.
- Lead fundamental tasks such as collecting data and entering it into systems.
- Develop and oversee study-specific procedures to maintain operational efficiency.
- Conduct literature searches to aid faculty research efforts.
- Assist in designing and formatting manuscripts for publication.
- Support Principal Investigators by summarizing publications for dissemination via policy briefs or other formats.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Substitutions between relevant education and experience are possible as per Johns Hopkins University guidelines.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in public health, social science, economics, or related fields.
- Previous research experience is highly valued.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as R, Stata, Python, and NVivo is preferred.
- Experience conducting literature reviews.
- Familiarity with global health issues including gender and women's equity research.
- Experience supporting research administration and project coordination.
- Manuscript writing experience.
Technical Skills
- Basic analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Foundational knowledge in data management and analysis.
- Proficiency in formatting and document layout.
- Adequate information gathering and organizational abilities.
- Competency in oral and written communication.

- Compensation: Hourly pay ranging from $17.20 to $30.30, depending on experience.
