About the Role

The Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is looking for a Research Assistant to support Principal Investigators and research teams. This position primarily involves managing the collection, organization, and maintenance of data relevant to ongoing studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate routine and custom data reports as needed.
  • Utilize common software applications to review and validate data.
  • Support data cleaning processes to ensure data accuracy and prepare data tables.
  • Lead fundamental tasks such as collecting data and entering it into systems.
  • Develop and oversee study-specific procedures to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Conduct literature searches to aid faculty research efforts.
  • Assist in designing and formatting manuscripts for publication.
  • Support Principal Investigators by summarizing publications for dissemination via policy briefs or other formats.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Substitutions between relevant education and experience are possible as per Johns Hopkins University guidelines.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in public health, social science, economics, or related fields.
  • Previous research experience is highly valued.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as R, Stata, Python, and NVivo is preferred.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews.
  • Familiarity with global health issues including gender and women's equity research.
  • Experience supporting research administration and project coordination.
  • Manuscript writing experience.

Technical Skills

  • Basic analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Foundational knowledge in data management and analysis.
  • Proficiency in formatting and document layout.
  • Adequate information gathering and organizational abilities.
  • Competency in oral and written communication.

  • Compensation: Hourly pay ranging from $17.20 to $30.30, depending on experience.
