Role Overview

This full-time Research Analyst role at JBA is based in Kingston with flexibility for partial remote work. The position entails gathering, analyzing, and interpreting diverse datasets related to the banking sector encompassing market dynamics, regulatory changes, and economic indicators. Daily duties include preparing detailed research reports, policy briefs, and presentations to be shared internally and with member institutions. Maintaining databases and monitoring key industry statistics also form part of the responsibilities.

The analyst will aid JBA's advocacy by delivering evidence-backed insights, participating in surveys and studies, and helping create materials for stakeholder discussions and public communications. Close cooperation with team members, member banks, and external partners will ensure research outputs align with JBA's strategic goals, remain precise, timely, and relevant.

Candidate Profile

• Strong analytical proficiency and solid statistical knowledge to interpret complex financial and economic data.
• Competence in market and general research methodologies to design, gather, and assess data trends within banking and financial sectors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to produce understandable and engaging reports, briefs, and presentations for varied audiences.
• Academic qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Business, or a related discipline; advanced degrees are advantageous.
• Experience with data analysis software such as Excel and statistical tools, combined with meticulous attention to detail when handling quantitative and qualitative data.
• Ability to operate independently and collaboratively, prioritize competing tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, stakeholder-driven context.
• Familiarity with Jamaica's financial industry and regulatory environment or demonstrated capacity to quickly absorb industry-specific knowledge.
