Job description
Role overview
Platform Housing Group is hiring a Rent Officer to join its Income team. This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary of up to £38,096. The post covers Leicestershire and Northamptonshire and is intended for someone who can deliver a high-quality, customer-first rent and income collection service.
The successful person will help the organisation meet team KPIs and individual targets while supporting customers with affordable repayment arrangements, basic money guidance, and help with benefit or Universal Credit applications. The role suits someone who wants to make a real impact by providing practical support and maintaining a strong service mindset.
Key duties
You will be responsible for recovering outstanding income across a range of cases, including current and former tenant arrears, court costs, recharge repair costs, and other miscellaneous debts. A key part of the job is working with customers to set up repayment plans that take account of their financial situation and encourage them to review income and expenditure.
The role also involves working closely with colleagues across Platform Housing Group to secure positive outcomes. In addition, you may need to visit sites occasionally, and you will be expected to prepare for and present cases in court.
Working arrangement
This is primarily a home-based role. However, you will need to attend the office roughly once every two weeks, usually at the Market Harborough office, with occasional attendance at other offices as required. Court attendance across Northamptonshire and Leicestershire is also part of the role.
Candidate profile
Applicants should ideally have experience in debt recovery and possession proceedings within a housing environment, or a strong background in a target-driven role. Experience handling accounts would be an added advantage.
You should be confident managing difficult conversations, able to show empathy, and skilled at negotiation. The role also calls for calmness under pressure, resilience, strong organisation, and the ability to work to deadlines.
Requirements
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential because the role includes travel across the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire area, court attendance, and occasional site visits.
Benefits
Platform Housing Group offers a range of benefits, including generous annual leave, family-friendly leave policies, wellbeing support, a health cash plan, pension contributions, learning and development opportunities, an electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, and an employee reward programme.

Interested candidates can contact recruitment@platformhg.com for more information. Early applications are encouraged because the vacancy may close before the advertised closing date if a large number of applications are received.
