Remote Monitoring Technician

About the opportunity

Sandvik Mining is looking for a proactive, technically capable Remote Monitoring Technician to join its Parts & Service team. The position is based in Milton, Brisbane in a hybrid setup, with consideration for strong candidates located elsewhere in Australia. This is a permanent full-time role created because of an internal transfer.

In this role, you will help improve the reliability and performance of customer equipment by tracking machine health data remotely, spotting warning signs before they turn into failures, and sharing practical recommendations that lift uptime and operational efficiency. You will work with customers and internal teams to deliver high-quality support across a fleet of advanced mining machines.

Key responsibilities

Your day-to-day work will focus on monitoring equipment health, reviewing diagnostic information, and turning data into useful action for customers and stakeholders.

• Track mining equipment performance data to identify unusual patterns, alarms, and emerging issues.
• Review telemetry and diagnostic inputs to pick up early indicators of wear, breakdown risk, and inefficiency.
• Flag and escalate urgent equipment alerts to customers and internal teams in a timely manner.
• Support the creation of troubleshooting guides and root-cause analysis tools.
• Keep customers informed with clear, professional updates on equipment condition and suggested next steps.
• Explain the purpose of the Remote Monitoring Centre and its software capabilities to customers.
• Work closely with customers and internal colleagues to support maintenance planning and fleet performance goals.
• Follow health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements while contributing to a Zero Harm culture.

What you need

The ideal candidate will be a trade-qualified heavy diesel mechanic, plant mechanic, mobile plant technician, diesel fitter, or another closely related mechanical trade professional with hands-on experience in mining or heavy mobile equipment.

• A trade certificate in Heavy Diesel, Mobile Plant, Mechanical Fitting, Automotive Electrical, or a similar field.
• At least 2 years of experience in the mining industry, either surface or underground.
• Solid working knowledge of heavy equipment mechanical and electrical systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to give clear technical advice to customers and stakeholders.
• Experience with digital platforms, monitoring tools, and reporting systems.
• A proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and a clear commitment to safe work practices.
