About the role
Sandvik Mining is hiring a proactive and technically capable Remote Monitoring Technician to join its Parts & Service function. The role focuses on improving customer equipment reliability and performance by remotely tracking machine health data, spotting emerging faults early, and turning findings into practical recommendations that lift uptime and operating efficiency. You will work with customers and internal teams to support a fleet of advanced mining equipment and deliver strong service outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Keep a close watch on mining equipment data to detect irregular behaviour, alarms, and performance patterns.
- Review telemetry and diagnostic outputs to find early indicators of wear, malfunction, or reduced efficiency.
- Rank urgent equipment warnings and pass them on promptly to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Help build troubleshooting guides and tools used for root cause analysis.
- Share clear, professional, and timely updates with customers on equipment condition and suggested actions.
- Explain the purpose and capabilities of the Remote Monitoring Centre and its software in a customer-friendly way.
- Work with customers and internal teams to support maintenance planning and fleet performance goals.
- Follow health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements while contributing to a Zero Harm culture.
About you
The ideal applicant is a qualified trade professional such as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, Mobile Plant Technician, Diesel Fitter, or a similar specialist with experience on mining or heavy mobile equipment. You should be confident with both mechanical and electrical systems and enjoy using data and technology to prevent issues before they become breakdowns.
Requirements
- Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel, Mobile Plant, Mechanical Fitting, Automotive Electrical, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in the mining industry, either surface or underground.
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment mechanical and electrical systems.
- Good communication skills with the ability to give clear technical advice to customers and stakeholders.
- Experience working with digital systems, monitoring platforms, and reporting tools.
- A proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and a solid commitment to safety.
- Must have the right to live and work in Australia.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment medical as part of the hiring process.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Milton, Brisbane on a hybrid arrangement, although candidates from other locations across Australia may be considered if they are a suitable fit.
