Role Overview
Te Kura is continuously recruiting Relief Teachers (Kaiako) on a casual, as-needed basis to provide teaching cover across Central South Regional Offices, particularly located in Wellington, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, and Nelson. The position involves working across various subjects and levels throughout the NZ Curriculum, with priority for specialists in NCEA level English, Mathematics, Te Reo, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Biology, Digital Technology, Primary/Year 7-10, and Learning Support. Relief teachers will receive supported training before commencing their first relief day.
Responsibilities
- Provide temporary teaching cover for absent teaching staff at Te Kura's Central South offices.
- Deliver online education using current technology platforms, ensuring authentic, engaging learning experiences for students.
- Collaborate effectively with teams and support student achievement in alignment with the New Zealand curriculum and its key competencies.
Candidate Requirements
- Must be a New Zealand Registered Teacher (Kaiako).
- Specialisation in one or more of the following preferred: NCEA Level English, Mathematics, Te Reo, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Biology, Digital Technology, Primary/Year 7-10, or Learning Support.
- Enthusiastic and collaborative approach toward teaching and team participation.
- Comfortable and skilled at teaching in an online environment.
- Understanding of New Zealand curriculum key competencies and assessment practices.
