Overview
The Regional Sales Manager for the Northern region is tasked with spearheading revenue growth, increasing market share, and ensuring profitable operations within the cables segment, covering territories including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. This leadership role includes full regional P&L accountability and demands strategic sales planning, project pipeline management, channel development, and nurturing key relationships with EPC contractors, utilities, OEMs, industrial clients, and channel partners.
Core Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute detailed sales strategies to meet or surpass revenue, margin, and market penetration goals in the region.
- Drive sales expansion by creating strong project pipelines, monitoring progress, and collaborating effectively to close deals across critical sectors.
- Manage the entire project sales cycle from prospecting through specifications, quoting, negotiation, and contract finalization.
- Build and maintain strong alliances with contractors, consultants, utilities, industrial customers, and OEMs to facilitate repeat business and strategic growth.
- Oversee regional profit and loss, ensuring revenue targets are hit, margins optimized, and operational costs controlled.
- Develop a resilient network of distributors and dealers, emphasizing optimal territorial coverage, inventory management, and sales efficacy.
- Lead efforts to increase market footprint in emerging industrial clusters in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, while closely tracking project pipelines in sectors like power transmission, renewable energy, infrastructure, railways, and industry expansion.
- Manage and inspire a geographically distributed team comprising Regional and Area Sales Managers as well as Project Sales Engineers, promoting accountability and skill growth.
- Implement robust sales MIS processes to monitor pipeline, order books, execution status, and financial elements such as collections and receivables.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms, credit norms, and risk management frameworks.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Engineering degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering; MBA or other postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
- 15 to 20 years of sales experience, emphasizing project sales or B2B sectors, particularly in cables or related electrical domains.
- Demonstrable success leading regional sales with consistent delivery of growth objectives, preferably in power, infrastructure, EPC, or industrial markets.
Skills & Competencies
- In-depth industry knowledge of cables, power infrastructure, and electrical product markets with regional focus.
- Expertise in B2B and project sales, along with key account management and regional business development.
- Strong financial literacy concerning project margins, pricing approaches, and cost controls.
- Capability to convert strategic plans into measurable project wins and top-line growth.
- Effective negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills across EPCs, utilities, consultants, and channel networks.
- Analytical and data-oriented approach to pipeline management, forecasting, and sales analysis.
- Proven leadership in managing dispersed sales teams and fostering a performance-driven work environment.
- High ethical standards, resilience, and a strong customer-oriented mindset.
