Working in close coordination with headquarters and regional teams across commercial, product, engineering, operations, finance, legal, and other functions, the role identifies new growth avenues, reviews market opportunities, builds regional strategy, assesses investments, and steers strategic initiatives that drive profitable expansion.
Strategic planning and business growth
- Create and roll out the regional strategy roadmap for all Weichai Power business segments in line with the group’s global direction and long-term goals.
- Spot sustainable growth opportunities across Asia-Pacific and the broader India region using market research, customer understanding, and industry trend analysis.
- Design market-entry and market-expansion plans for priority countries and targeted sectors.
- Lead annual planning, market prioritisation, and growth programme discussions.
- Put forward strategic actions that improve competitive strength and regional market share.
Market intelligence and competitive analysis
- Carry out detailed market research, competitor benchmarking, customer analysis, and industry reviews across all Weichai Power segments.
- Study demand patterns, customer needs, pricing movement, competition, regulations, macroeconomic factors, and new technologies affecting the business.
- Prepare strategic reports, market evaluation documents, executive slide decks, and practical recommendations for senior leaders and headquarters.
- Continuously identify and rank high-potential growth opportunities through data-led market insight.
Business expansion and strategic initiatives
- Identify, assess, and help execute growth initiatives such as new businesses, strategic investments, M&A, JVs, and collaboration opportunities.
- Build business cases, financial analyses, feasibility studies, and investment recommendations for regional expansion.
- Support the setup of new offices, distributor and dealer networks, and key partnerships.
- Drive transformation projects that raise performance, efficiency, and organisational capability.
- Take ownership of special strategic projects assigned by senior leadership or headquarters.
Strategic partnerships
- Build, negotiate, and manage strategic relationships with OEMs, technology partners, government bodies, infrastructure developers, EPC contractors, distributors, system integrators, hyperscalers, AI data centre operators, and other ecosystem stakeholders.
- Look for partnership opportunities that strengthen market reach and competitive advantage.
Commercial strategy support
- Work with regional business leaders to shape commercial plans, identify growth levers, refine market positioning, define customer segments, and execute go-to-market initiatives.
- Support major commercial deals with market intelligence, competitor insights, pricing analysis, and strategic guidance.
- Assist in reviewing strategic bids, large tenders, and major infrastructure opportunities.
- Track business performance across the region and recommend actions to support steady growth.
Cross-functional leadership
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, sales, finance, marketing, legal, and after-sales teams to keep strategic work aligned with business goals.
- Act as a bridge between regional operations and headquarters on strategy priorities and business results.
- Guide and mentor regional strategy and business-planning staff where needed.
- Encourage innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decisions.
- Present recommendations, business cases, and market insights to senior leadership and headquarters for executive decision-making.
Requirements
- An MBA, Engineering, Economics, International Business, Strategic Management, Finance, or a related master’s degree is mandatory.
- At least 15 years of progressive experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, business development, commercial leadership, M&A, strategic partnerships, or regional leadership in relevant industries.
- A track record of building and executing regional growth strategies across Asia-Pacific and the broader India market.
- Strong hands-on experience in strategy planning, market intelligence, business planning, corporate development, investment evaluation, and executive-level decision support.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across multiple countries and cultural environments.
- Solid commercial and financial judgement, including financial modelling, investment appraisal, valuation, feasibility studies, ROI analysis, and capital allocation.
- Prior exposure to M&A, JVs, strategic alliances, partnerships, and post-merger integration is strongly preferred.
- Experience with OEMs, hyperscalers, AI data centre operators, colocation providers, EPC contractors, utilities, and similar ecosystem partners is a strong advantage.
- Good understanding of regional geopolitics, regulations, industrial policy, and international trade dynamics across Asia-Pacific.
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical ability, problem solving, and programme management skills.
- Strong communication, executive presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, boards, and external partners.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin is required to work effectively with headquarters and Chinese-speaking stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Asia-Pacific and the broader India region.
