Regional Head of Retail

Role overview

An established retail business is seeking a seasoned senior leader to take charge of a major retail region across the North West of the UK and nearby areas. This position is designed for an experienced retail executive who can drive commercial results, oversee operations across multiple sites, and lead at scale. Candidates who are not already based in the region are welcome, provided they are willing to relocate for the opportunity.

Reporting to the Retail Director and contributing as part of the Sales Leadership Team, this role has direct influence on regional direction and overall business performance. It is suited to someone with a strong background in multi-store retail leadership, commercial growth, and operational discipline.

What the role involves

You will be responsible for the performance of a large multi-site region, with ownership of sales, profit, and operational delivery. A major part of the role is building a high-performing team of regional managers while maintaining a strong customer focus and ensuring consistent execution across the region.

The position requires a mix of strategic thinking and practical commercial leadership, along with strong analytical capability, people management skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a complex retail structure.

Commercial and strategic leadership

• Use data-driven insight to improve regional revenue, profit, and KPI outcomes.
• Create and implement trading plans that support wider business goals.
• Hold full responsibility for the region's P&L, including payroll, productivity, and cost management.
• Spot and act on opportunities to lift performance through refits, relocations, and store optimisation.

People leadership and development

• Manage, coach, and develop regional managers.
• Strengthen succession planning and support the growth of high-potential talent.
• Foster a culture of accountability, high performance, and customer focus.
• Motivate teams to deliver consistent commercial and service results.

Operational excellence

• Maintain high operational standards across all stores in the region.
• Work closely with merchandising, visual merchandising, training, and HR teams.
• Continuously improve processes, performance, and the customer experience.

About you

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished retail leader at Head of, Regional Director, or an equivalent level. You should have a strong record of leading multi-site operations and regional teams, along with solid commercial judgement and P&L ownership.

Experience in high street retail, fashion, jewellery, accessories, or beauty will be valuable. You will also need to be a confident coach, a credible leader, and someone who can communicate clearly and influence effectively at all levels.

The role suits someone who is entrepreneurial, resilient, and comfortable in a fast-moving environment. Willingness to relocate and travel regionally as needed is essential.
