About the Role and Team
The Regional Employment Broker will serve the South East and Eastern regions, including women's prisons, building sustainable employment pathways for prisoners upon release. This role is part of the New Futures Network (NFN) within HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), which collaborates with employers to increase work opportunities for incarcerated individuals and supports prison leavers to gain employment, aiding in the government’s strategy to reduce reoffending.
The broker will independently manage employer engagement across the area, working closely with prison stakeholders such as Governors, Prison Group Directors, and Employment Leads. A key responsibility is to proactively engage businesses in growth sectors by leveraging labour market intelligence and prison insights to create meaningful job opportunities compatible with employer needs and prisoner outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Engage and maintain strong relationships with local and regional employers to facilitate employment on release.
- Deliver commercial workshops and manage arrangements for Release on Temporary Licence.
- Collaborate with prison leadership and employment teams to support employment pathways across multiple prisons in the designated regions.
- Act as a trusted intermediary between prisons and employers, aligning commercial demands with sustainable prisoner employment.
- Work within the national NFN team while coordinating closely with regional groups.
- Adapt to reasonable changes and additional duties as required.
Person Specification and Desired Skills
Successful candidates will have previous employer engagement experience and strong influencing abilities to effectively work at senior levels across diverse stakeholders. The role requires demonstrated behaviours including teamwork, communication and influence, quality service management, and delivering results efficiently.

Additional Information
This position is temporary and based onsite at various prison locations across the South East and Eastern areas of England, including listed prisons such as Stirling House Newmarket, Warren Hill Woodbridge, Chelmsford, Coldingley, Cookham Wood Rochester, Elmley Sheerness, Ford Arundel, Highpoint Newmarket, and others.
An informational session about the role is held virtually via Microsoft Teams to assist candidates in understanding the duties and responsibilities.
