Job description

About the Company

Join a national organisation committed to revolutionizing large-scale procurement for the benefit of the people of Aotearoa. Their commercial and supply chain team operates throughout the country, focusing on strategic category management and fostering sustainable partnerships that optimize the use of public resources.

About the Role

The Regional Commercial Manager is responsible for executing commercial strategies tailored to regional needs and raising local category concerns for national consideration. A deep understanding of regional market dynamics is essential, along with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and manage supplier relationships to encourage innovation and continuous enhancement.

You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders to ensure commercial efforts align with operational demands while promoting fairness and sustainability. This role encompasses the full commercial cycle from regional category strategy development to procurement, contract awarding, and ongoing contract management. By building enduring partnerships with suppliers in the region, you will ensure contract compliance, address arising issues, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.

With a strong customer service orientation, you are dedicated to delivering outstanding service and maximizing value. Your impact will support the organization's commitment to achieving more with fewer resources through strategic category management, market engagement, and thorough supplier performance and contract oversight.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate likely holds a tertiary qualification in a related discipline and possesses substantial experience in procurement, contracting, and some exposure to category management. You bring expertise in implementing category management strategies and sourcing activities aligned with organizational objectives that create value. Experience negotiating complex contracts and managing intricate contractual arrangements, particularly within infrastructure environments, is important.

  • Successful track record in implementing and overseeing complex category strategies across multiple categories.
  • Deep knowledge of regional supplier markets, including emerging vendors and current market trends.
  • Strong financial analysis skills to assess cost structures, pricing methodologies, and the financial implications of decisions.
  • Ability to analyze regional market data and trends to comprehend competitive landscapes, pricing volatility, and supplier performance to guide sourcing and negotiation strategies.
  • Experience in leadership roles with a focus on exemplifying organizational values and leadership behaviors.
  • Understanding of commercial and contractual responsibilities.
