Job description

Role overview

Eastern Washington University’s Enrollment Services team is hiring a Regional Admissions Advisor to support prospective students across Central Washington. This full-time role is based in Yakima County and is performed entirely remotely, with a recruiting territory that currently includes Chelan, Douglas, Kittitas, Klickitat, and Yakima counties. Territory coverage may be adjusted each year based on university priorities.

The position focuses on helping prospective students understand their options, build academic plans, and move smoothly through the admissions and enrollment process. The work combines outreach, travel, student communication, presentations, and application file review.

EWU is seeking someone who enjoys helping people, stays organized, learns assigned programs thoroughly, brings a constructive attitude, and can work effectively on their own as well as with a team.

Key responsibilities

  • Represent the university in assigned Central Washington communities and recruit prospective students within the territory.
  • Manage a regional recruitment territory, including travel and outreach activities.
  • Communicate with prospective students and guide them through admissions and enrollment steps.
  • Deliver admissions presentations and participate in recruitment events, including evening, weekend, and multi-day travel assignments.
  • Review applicant files and support admissions records-related processes.
  • Apply university admissions rules, policies, and procedures accurately.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of assigned programs and responsibilities.
  • Work independently while also collaborating closely with the broader Enrollment Services team.
  • Use computers and office technology such as Microsoft Office, laptops, projectors, and cell phones to complete daily work.
  • Serve diverse communities with clear, friendly, and effective communication.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend events and take multi-day recruitment trips.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver accurate results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of admission and records-management rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an integrated team.
  • Comfort working with diverse groups and communities.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and routine use of laptop, projector, and cell phone.
  • Ability to sit and walk extensively and lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Must live within the assigned territory because this is a geographically bound role.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Prior experience in admissions, recruitment, or student advising.
  • Familiarity with Eastern Washington University.
  • Proven ability to manage programs from planning through implementation and completion.
  • At least two years of progressively responsible office experience.

Schedule and work conditions

Regular schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some evening and weekend hours as needed. The role also requires flexibility for travel and non-traditional working hours, including time away from the regional office.

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position is $44,712 to $53,658 per year. Starting salary within that range will depend on education, experience, and skills.

EWU offers a benefits package that includes health insurance, disability insurance, retirement coverage, generous vacation and sick leave accruals, 13 paid holidays per year, tuition waiver benefits for employees and eligible family members, discounted EWU sports tickets, access to campus workout facilities for a minimum fee, and free transportation through STA buses.

Employment terms and compliance

This is a 12-month appointment and is classified as non-exempt for payroll purposes, though the posting also notes that it is an administrative exempt position under EWU policy. The role is contingent on a successful background check before employment begins.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States. The university cannot provide visa sponsorship or take over existing sponsorship for this role.

New hires must comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination for MMR before starting work, unless an approved medical or sincerely held religious waiver applies.

After hire, required training will be completed through Canvas, and the Office of Employee Belonging, Development, and Leadership will contact the employee regarding Workplace Belonging training.

Interviews may be conducted through Zoom, and candidates should be prepared to use video and demonstrate comfort with Zoom and related technology.

The position involves handling university funds or items of value and may include unsupervised access to developmentally disabled individuals, vulnerable adults, or children under 16.

Protective measures and institutional, local, regional, and state public-safety mandates must be followed as needed, including use of an N95 respirator for smoke if required.

The posting is for Eastern Washington University, a regional public university serving more than 10,000 students.
