Job description

Role Overview

This is a long-term contract recruiting role with a hybrid schedule: the position is on-site from Monday through Thursday, with Friday available as a remote day. The recruiter will own end-to-end hiring support across the organization, including candidate screening, interviewing, and recommending strong applicants for open roles. The position also involves building and executing sourcing plans for different job types and levels, along with creating recruiting initiatives that make use of networking and employee referral channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with hiring managers to discuss staffing needs and shape targeted recruiting plans.
  • Actively search for talent and create proactive sourcing approaches for open positions.
  • Keep up with current recruiting practices by using internal talent acquisition resources and external sources such as social media, articles, and seminars.
  • Develop strong working relationships with leaders and employees to improve hiring outcomes and the overall candidate journey.
  • Review applicants for work history, education, skills, and salary expectations, then submit qualified candidates to hiring managers.
  • Work closely with the recruiting coordinator to keep interviews running smoothly, including travel, lodging, transportation, expense arrangements, and candidate communication.
  • Maintain accurate staffing records in the applicant tracking system, including dispositions, candidate source details, and interview-stage documentation.
  • Stay in touch with potential future candidates to build and preserve strong talent pipelines.
  • Manage relationships with colleges, universities, community groups, and professional associations to generate qualified applicants.
  • Represent the organization at job fairs and career fairs to support candidate sourcing.
  • Support leaders in mentorship efforts for rotational and internship programs when needed.
  • Collaborate with outside recruiters as part of the hiring process.
  • Participate in new-hire orientation and onboarding activities as required.
  • Provide weekly updates on open positions and recruiting strategy progress.
  • Champion the employee referral program.
  • Help support company affirmative action goals.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills

  • A bachelor's degree with 1 to 3 years of experience, ideally in corporate recruiting, or 5+ years of comparable professional experience.
  • Solid knowledge of talent acquisition concepts and best practices is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, careful attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Professional tact, diplomacy, and the ability to gain support from others across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work confidentially and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Comfort leading initiatives and contributing effectively within project teams.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
  • Proficiency with PC tools and common office software, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience creating spreadsheets and recruiting metrics is strongly preferred.
  • Prior use of a reputable applicant tracking system is preferred.

Travel Requirements

The role requires occasional overnight travel for career fairs, conferences, and field ride-alongs. Travel is usually heavier in the fall, but flexibility is needed throughout the year. International travel may also be possible, so a valid passport is required or must be obtainable.
