Role overview

The Recruiting & Onboarding Specialist supports Victory Programs’ hiring efforts by driving recruitment activities that help attract, assess, and select strong candidates for the agency. This position also oversees onboarding for newly hired employees and interns. The role reports to the Director of Employee Relations and receives guidance and supervision from that position.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with hiring managers to clarify position needs, job expectations, and staffing priorities.
  • Create and execute recruiting plans designed to bring in a broad and qualified candidate pool.
  • Manage the complete onboarding process for new hires.
  • Prepare employment offer letters.
  • Advertise openings across multiple channels, including college networks, career sites, social media, and niche industry platforms.
  • Represent the organization at job fairs, campus hiring events, and related recruiting activities.
  • Identify candidates, review resumes, conduct initial screenings, carry out reference checks, and route hiring packets for approval while keeping candidates informed throughout the process.
  • Keep the applicant tracking system (Paylocity) updated and organized.
  • Help develop interview guides and other selection materials.
  • Support hiring managers with application status updates and provide training when necessary.
  • Coordinate and review background checks.
  • Stay informed on recruitment compliance requirements and new hiring practices.
  • Contribute to HR projects such as employee engagement, process enhancement, and compliance-related work.
  • Offer general support to the HR team as needed.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related discipline.
  • 1 to 2 years of HR experience with proven ability to source and screen candidates.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Google Suite.
  • Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems and recruiting tools such as LinkedIn, Indeed, and Handshake.
  • Understanding of recruitment laws and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong customer service mindset.
  • High attention to detail, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Well-developed time management and organization skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, track progress, and use data effectively.
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred qualifications

  • Familiarity with standard HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience with Canva or similar design tools is a plus.

Schedule and work arrangement

This is a full-time role with a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday. The position becomes hybrid-eligible after 90 days.

Compensation

Pay is $30.24 per hour.

The benefits package includes a 75% employer contribution toward health insurance premiums, a 25% employer contribution toward dental premiums, and 100% employer-paid disability and life insurance. Employees working 20 or more hours per week receive a generous paid time off package that includes vacation, sick time, personal time, and holidays. Upon hire, eligible employees receive up to 4 personal days, 160 sick hours, 10 holidays, and 3.5 weeks of vacation. These amounts vary based on full-time or part-time status, and vacation accrual increases with length of employment.
