Recreation Attendant

Job Summary

As a recreation attendant, you will help run the day-to-day activities of the facility while keeping equipment, rental items, and the overall environment in good condition. A major part of the role is also to uphold safety standards and support visitors with a professional, service-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in line with all workplace rules, procedures, and operating standards.
• Deliver a high-quality customer experience to members, non-members, and other facility users.
• Assist with new member registration and support existing members with their questions.
• Welcome members and visitors at reception and create a positive first impression.
• Check members in and confirm membership details as required.
• Register prospective members and direct them to the appropriate staff member.
• Share information about class availability and respond to cancellation-related queries.
• Help maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, members, and employees at all times.
• Handle payments for activities and ensure shift-end transactions are correctly recorded and balanced.
• Provide clear information about programs and activities to members and visitors.
• Maintain a neat, professional appearance and friendly manner when dealing with the public.
• Answer phone calls and note down messages from incoming enquiries.
• Keep the area clean and organized, including both front-of-house and back-of-house spaces.
• Log queries, complaints, lost items, and repair requests accurately, then ensure they are passed to the right team for resolution.
• Support additional duties of a similar professional nature when requested by management.
• Contribute to projects and tasks assigned by recreation or gym leadership.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification, along with at least 3 years of experience in a similar setting. A recognized lifeguard certification such as RLSS or STA is preferred, as well as a recognized first aid certificate that includes CPR and AED training. Safeguard certification is also required. Strong verbal and written English skills, plus excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, are essential.
