Job description

Overview

We are seeking a warm, organized, and empathetic Receptionist to join our Fracture Clinic team. This role plays a vital part in delivering a positive and supportive experience to patients, their families, carers, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an efficient, friendly, and effective reception service to patients and visitors attending the clinic, supporting patient-focused care aligned with Trust and division standards.
  • Maintain thorough clerical and administrative support, ensuring high standards within the workplace environment.
  • Offer professional face-to-face and telephone reception services, utilizing verbal and written communication to interact with patients, relatives, staff, wards/units, divisions, and external agencies to facilitate smooth patient service delivery.
  • Register patients upon arrival, accurately entering all demographic and episode details into the patient administration system.
  • Schedule outpatient clinic appointments and arrange ambulance transport for patients when required.
  • Respond proactively and efficiently to all queries—both in person and via telephone—delivering accurate information to the multidisciplinary team, patients, and their relatives.
  • Perform administrative tasks including typing clinic and GP letters, diagnostic reports, maintenance of admission/discharge books, filing, photocopying, fault reporting, and arranging patient follow-ups to maintain seamless service continuity.
  • Ensure all patient discharges are entered timely and correctly on the relevant systems daily.
  • Provide administrative support to Sister/Nurse-in-Charge or Senior Clinician as needed.
