Job description
Role overview
This position sits within Budget and Financial Services at the Department of Health in Darwin. The role is responsible for handling territory monies accurately, maintaining up-to-date bank reconciliation and administration, and supporting strong internal controls over cash and revenue processes.
Primary objective
The core purpose of the job is to ensure public money is collected, receipted, investigated when discrepancies arise, protected, and deposited on time into the official bank account. The position also provides revenue support so that patients are classified correctly for financial purposes and invoices for services are issued properly.
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate bank account reconciliation and related financial administration.
- Receive and receipt money in line with established procedures.
- Identify, investigate, and follow up on anomalies or inconsistencies in money handling and records.
- Maintain safeguards and internal controls over public funds.
- Ensure deposits of public money are made to the official bank account within required timeframes.
- Support revenue processes by confirming patient financial classification is accurate.
- Prepare and issue invoices for services.
