Role Overview

The Real Estate Counsel is critical to advancing Flow's real estate growth strategy, serving as a legal expert embedded in key operational teams. This individual handles a variety of real estate transaction agreements and ensures alignment with business objectives while managing legal risks effectively. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, communicating clearly across different audiences and supporting collaboration between legal, real estate, and finance departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate a broad range of contracts such as acquisitions, leases, property management agreements, financing contracts, and related documents including amendments, assignments, SNDAs, estoppels, NDAs, and licenses.
• Oversee external legal counsel to ensure quality deliverables with optimal cost efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with Real Estate and Finance teams for deal structuring that meets all critical business requirements, providing proactive legal guidance to minimize risks while supporting company goals.
• Lead and coordinate legal due diligence as well as broader review processes for all new investments.
• Ensure compliance with local land use and zoning laws, securing necessary licenses and regulatory approvals.
• Advise team members on contract terms to facilitate smooth interactions between property management personnel and external partners.
• Interpret lease and other contractual agreements, evaluate legal risks, and make practical decisions accordingly.

Qualifications

• Between 2 and 5 years of legal experience, preferably including some in-house exposure.
• Active and good standing admission to legal practice.
• In-depth understanding of real estate law, finance, and operations.
• Expertise in drafting contracts and negotiating deals effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of tailoring messages for legal, real estate, executive, and lay audiences.
• Ability to operate quickly and adapt to changing priorities with flexibility and creativity.
• Strong organizational and planning abilities to manage multiple complex agreements under tight deadlines and pressure.
• Proactive mindset with decisive action-taking capabilities.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range is $170,000 to $190,000. Flow provides comprehensive benefits including:
