Job description
About the Role
This is a mechanical integrity technical role focused on fixed equipment support for a petrochemical environment. The position centers on risk-based inspection leadership, troubleshooting, asset improvement, and selecting the right technologies to strengthen integrity performance across oil and gas assets.
What You Will Do
- Lead technical support for upstream and downstream oil and gas assets with a strong focus on inspection and corrosion management.
- Provide integrity solutions for asset integrity challenges across operating facilities.
- Develop practical innovations, automations, and methods that help create differentiation for the business.
- Carry out integrity assurance activities such as fitness-for-service reviews, corrosion evaluations, and remaining life assessments.
- Guide integrity engineers and ensure workflows are delivered with consistent quality at scale.
- Support pre-sales efforts for new opportunities and assist with post-sales delivery for assigned projects.
- Help recruit skilled team members or train internal talent to meet delivery goals.
- Act as the link between customers, sales teams, and global technical groups.
- Build and maintain customer relationships and contribute to strategic partnerships for complex technical needs.
- Review technical scoping, estimates, feasibility, fitment, and solution concepts prepared by program and project leaders.
- Evaluate degradation affecting pressure equipment, heat exchangers, piping circuits, fired equipment, flares, above-ground storage tanks, and pressure relief devices.
- Monitor integrity indicators and oversee surveillance work to support safe and reliable operations.
- Handle troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and follow-through on integrity recommendations.
- Identify bad actors and analyze repeat equipment issues to reduce downtime.
- Use data analytics and digital tools to improve work practices and support digital transformation.
- Manage integrity effectiveness by setting criticality ratings, consequence/complexity levels, inspection strategies, task intervals, and regular strategy updates in line with statutory and local requirements.
- Oversee integrity work-product metrics for quality, effectiveness, and efficiency at regional level.
- Coordinate knowledge transfer, learning exchange, skill management, and business relationships across global centers and business units.
- Mentor new team members and provide continuous on-the-job technical guidance.
- Stay current with industry standards and practices while working in a flexible, agile environment and improving internal processes.
- Review inspection findings, recommend next actions, and support mechanical calculations for thickness requirements and fitness-for-service cases.
Requirements
- Engineering background in Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering with 3 to 15+ years of relevant oil and gas experience in refining, petrochemical, LNG, or related sectors.
- Strong understanding of upstream and downstream oil and gas operations, including RBI methods, fixed equipment inspection, inspection optimization, piping circuitization, TML development, and common refinery/chemical damage mechanisms.
- Knowledge of in-service inspection for fixed equipment, material standards, corrosion, welding, NDT, thickness management, corrosion analysis, and inspection plan optimization.
- Familiarity with software tools such as APM Meridium, Pestra, and Credo.
- Ability to lead teams effectively with strong communication skills.
- Working knowledge of plant operations, operational safety, SHE risks, spill/safety incidents, and equipment failure scenarios.
- Understanding of engineers’ roles and responsibilities in oil and gas field/site environments.
- Knowledge of corrective and preventive maintenance practices.
- Awareness of international design, quality, and procedural standards for approved equipment.
- Working knowledge of key ASME and piping codes, including Sec. Div. 1/2, Sec. V, Sec. IX, Sec. II, B31.3, B31.1, B31.4, B31.8, and ASME PCC-2.
- Hands-on exposure to in-service inspection and repair of pressure equipment, heat exchangers, piping systems, pressure relief devices, and above-ground storage tanks.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a collaborative working style.
- Willingness to work in shifts, move across locations as needed, and travel internationally based on business requirements.
