Job description

Role overview

This position is for a mechanical engineering professional who can lead integrity activities for long-distance pipeline projects and the operation and maintenance of existing oil and gas pipelines. The role focuses on both subsea and onshore pipeline systems, with responsibility for strengthening integrity programs, supporting emergency repair readiness, and contributing to safe, reliable pipeline performance.

What you will do

  • Provide technical input for subsea and onshore pipeline integrity work and help implement integrity strategies and programs in a timely and effective way.
  • Support the emergency pipeline repair system and related readiness activities.
  • Solve complex discipline-specific and cross-functional problems related to subsea and onshore pipelines.
  • Deliver end-to-end solutions through pipeline integrity programs.
  • Develop work methods from multiple options in line with integrity management programs, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Plan, execute, and assess results for pipeline risk studies, and prepare recommendations to extend remaining asset life.
  • Respond quickly to pipeline failures, incidents, and urgent issues, including offshore and onshore support where needed.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for pipelines and subsea structural integrity, ensuring broad team participation in integrity activities.
  • Oversee planning and completion of integrity tasks, reporting status, findings, issues, and measurement or verification activities.
  • Check data quality across damage mechanisms and compare it with other inspection datasets and corrosion-monitoring information.
  • Provide technical and operational support as the pipeline integrity specialist for operating teams.
  • Help develop, implement, and sustain a Pipeline Integrity Management System using industry best practices and computerized tools for threats, risks, mitigation plans, discovery management, integrity assessment, and performance monitoring.
  • Assess and adopt suitable new technologies available in the market.
  • Prepare short- and long-term inspection plans based on the approved company strategy.
  • Define scope of work for subsea and onshore inspections, including ILI, ROV surveys, CP surveys, and other ad hoc inspections.
  • Review and classify UWI and ILI findings and observations in a professional manner.
  • Prepare technical recommendations and support their implementation through to closure.
  • Carry out internal engineering evaluations for issues such as dents, cracks, free spans, and buckling.
  • Take part in RCFA, incident investigations, SHE reviews, HAZOPs, HAZIDs, and risk assessments.
  • Work with quality teams and support studies that improve understanding of new technologies.
  • Provide integrity input for future pipeline projects so facilities and documentation are designed with long-term integrity in mind.
  • Help recruit skilled talent and train internal teams to build the required capability.

Requirements

  • A degree in Metallurgy, Chemical, Mechanical, or Pipeline Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of oil and gas experience in related work, including onshore or offshore pipeline projects and design.
  • Strong understanding of upstream and downstream oil and gas operations.
  • Hands-on knowledge of risk-based inspection methods.
  • Practical understanding of fracture mechanics, flow assurance, and stress analysis.
  • Ability to assess different pipeline damage mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with inspection procedures for fixed equipment.
  • Knowledge of inspection optimization, fitness-for-service, and life-extension studies.
  • Experience preparing repair scopes.
  • Working familiarity with codes and standards used in the industry.
  • Exposure to software such as CAESAR, OLGA, Pestra, Credo, and Meridium.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to perform pipeline risk assessments for offshore and onshore systems.
  • Understanding of corrective and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
