Role Overview
Research is central at WorldQuant, with a mission to explore and apply data in novel ways to financial markets. Researchers aim to identify unique predictive signals through rigorous analysis and innovative thinking. This internship involves supporting daily research and analytical efforts, including scripting for monitoring and analyzing alpha signals.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious with a scientific mindset, a self-motivated problem solver who thrives on tackling complex challenges. While prior finance experience is not mandatory, a strong enthusiasm for learning about financial and capital markets is essential. The internship includes mentorship from senior staff to guide professional growth.
Candidate Requirements
- Pursuing or holding a BS (Hons), MS, or PhD degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering with excellent academic performance is highly preferred.
- Exceptional candidates without advanced degrees may also be considered; prior quantitative analysis or trading experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Linux operating environments is required.
- Proficiency in Python and shell scripting languages is necessary.
- Machine learning or linear algebra coursework is an added benefit.
- Participation in data mining or programming competitions is appreciated.
- Candidates should be in their final or penultimate year of studies and able to commit to a full-time internship lasting at least three months during July/August through December 2026.
