Overview
Join CIMB Singapore as a Financial Crime Compliance Specialist, where you will play a crucial role in investigating anti-money laundering (AML) cases and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards within the banking sector. This role involves collaboration across various teams to ensure thorough reviews and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate AML case escalations referred to the Singapore Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team, triggered by transaction monitoring alerts, production orders, internal/external intelligence, or branch escalations, adhering to strict deadlines.
- Prepare clear and concise written summaries of reviews, incorporating all relevant documentation and findings.
- Advise on required post-investigation actions, such as blacklisting, client exit, trigger reviews, or intelligence sharing.
- Escalate investigation outcomes timely to the Head of SG FCC or designated delegate through comprehensive case memos.
- Coordinate with different bank units, including Singapore Compliance and business units, by initiating and following up on Requests for Information (RFI) as needed.
- Identify and contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of AML investigative procedures.
- File Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) with the Suspicious Transaction Reporting Office promptly, in compliance with current regulatory mandates.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of all AML investigation documentation following the bank’s record retention policies.
- Provide support for regulatory inquiries and external/internal audits as requested by the Head of FCC.
- Execute additional tasks as assigned by the Head of FCC.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Diploma or Degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field.
- Professional certifications such as ICA or ACAM are advantageous.
- Have between five and ten years of pertinent experience within Compliance or Financial Crime Compliance roles in financial institutions.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of working collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to independently manage and promptly address a substantial workload involving the review and clearance of alerts.
