Role Overview

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for product control activities, including final and in-process inspection, handling of non-conforming material, documentation, review and control of production process changes, tooling control, and oversight of monitoring and measuring equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a working understanding of process specifications and material requirements.
  • Help establish, maintain, and continuously improve product inspection plans.
  • Carry out in-process and final inspections of detail parts, minor assemblies, and structural assemblies, including planning, documentation, and record retention.
  • Verify that products, processes, and services meet applicable airworthiness, company, and customer quality standards.
  • Administer non-conforming material control in line with quality assurance procedures.
  • Support quality review activities for Engineering Masters.
  • Work with quality engineering, methods engineering, design engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve issues and implement root-cause corrective actions.
  • Oversee the control of monitoring and measuring devices in accordance with company quality procedures.
  • Contribute actively as part of the quality assurance team.
  • Track, measure, and communicate product and process performance metrics.
  • Recommend and support improvement initiatives related to quality assurance processes.
  • Assist with corrective action requests arising from trend analysis of non-conforming work.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of aerospace-specific quality inspection experience or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in inspection, production, or handling products.
  • Experience maintaining De Havilland DHC1 through DHC6 aircraft types is considered an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations CAR 561, 571, and CAR Standard 57,561.
  • Understanding of Certificates of Conformance (CofC) issued by part makers and Airworthiness Release Certificates such as FAA 8130, TCAA Form One, and EASA Form 1.
  • Background in continuous improvement is preferred.
  • Experience with IFS ERP or similar systems such as Total FBO or TRAX for controlling and issuing aeronautical parts and materials is an asset.
  • Transport Canada accredited College Diploma in Aeronautics is an asset.
  • Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licence is an asset.
  • Technical degree or diploma in Aerospace Engineering is an asset.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from complex aircraft drawings and blueprints.
  • Capability to measure and test parts built to design specifications.
  • Strong customer-service mindset for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
