Quality and Patient Safety Specialist

Role Summary

This position is responsible for spearheading efforts to enhance clinical quality and patient safety in an oncology care environment through various quality improvement projects and initiatives.

Key Duties

• Lead and manage projects aimed at improving patient care outcomes, including addressing gaps in treatment.
• Investigate adverse events by performing root cause analysis and participate in updating clinical protocols accordingly.
• Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with established safety standards.
• Design and provide staff education and training programs focused on quality and safety.
• Monitor, assess, and report progress of ongoing quality improvement efforts.
• Organize workshops and facilitate collaboration among multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain detailed documentation and handle related inquiries effectively.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a bachelor's degree in healthcare, nursing, or a related discipline.
• Have at least two years of professional experience in the field of healthcare quality improvement.
• Familiarity with quality improvement frameworks, industry standards, and data analytics.
• Exhibit strong capabilities in project management, effective communication, and teamwork.
• Skilled user of Microsoft Office applications.
• Lean or Six Sigma certification considered an asset.

Additional Information

The role requires occasional travel, remote working arrangements, and physical activity including light lifting. The specialist will contribute to advancing evidence-based clinical care and promote an organizational culture centered on safety and ongoing enhancement.
