Job Overview

The QHSE Officer role involves supporting the deployment, monitoring, and continuous enhancement of the company's quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems. Collaborating closely with the HSE & FM Manager and operational teams, the officer will ensure safe work conditions, regulatory compliance, and the proper upkeep of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Tasks include risk assessments, audits, incident investigations, and fostering a culture emphasizing quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing, sustaining, and improving the ISO 9001 Quality Management System alongside relevant process owners.
  • Maintain documentation such as QMS records, process maps, objectives, risk registers, and performance indicators.
  • Coordinate internal audits, management reviews, corrective actions, handling nonconformities, and support certification audits.
  • Support health and safety policy development and enforcement with the HSE & FM Team.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits regularly.
  • Identify workplace hazards, propose corrective measures, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Deliver safety training and awareness programs to staff.
  • Manage contractor safety activities, including Permit to Work and Lockout/Tagout systems enforcement.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, document outcomes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate on refining safety procedures based on risk and incident analysis.
  • Help develop, review, and execute emergency response plans and organize drills.
  • Ensure fire and safety equipment maintenance is current and functional.
  • Keep detailed records of inspections, audits, incidents, training, and quality nonconformities.
  • Prepare and assist in report generation for audits, management review, and regulatory compliance.
  • Engage with operations and maintenance teams to enhance QHSE performance.
  • Promote quality, safety, and environmental awareness at all organizational levels.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices for ongoing QHSE program improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline.
  • Mandatory NEBOSH IGC certification in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification required.
  • First Aid and Fire Safety certifications preferred.
  • ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications or strong familiarity are advantageous.
  • Additional certifications in quality, health, safety, or environmental management beneficial.
  • 4 to 5 years’ experience in QHSE roles, ideally in manufacturing, services, laundry, or process-intensive sectors.
  • Proven track record implementing and managing ISO 9001 QMS elements including documentation control, audits, corrective actions, and certification processes.
  • Experience with hazard identification, risk assessments, HSE inspections, incident investigation, root cause analysis, training, and report writing.

Skills

  • Fluent English communication skills; other languages a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and follow-up capabilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with collaboration and task management tools such as Notion, Asana, or Slack is desirable.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to varied operational environments which may include heat, noise, and chemical exposure.
  • Occasional travel to sites for inspections or meetings.
  • Potential requirement to work shifts, including night shifts, to ensure effective safety oversight.
