Job Summary

The QC Scientist I will be part of the Quality Control team at Eurofins DiscoverX, applying a wide range of technical methods to uphold product standards related to proprietary platforms and technologies. This position involves performing cell-based assays and quality assessments in a controlled lab environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct quality control testing on cell lines, assay-ready products, and reagents, including assisting with custom orders.
• Carry out cell-based assays under sterile, aseptic conditions, strictly adhering to SOPs.
• Collaborate closely with R&D teams to facilitate smooth transfer and implementation of new bioassays to Cell Production and QC.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of Master Cell Bank (MCB) and Working Cell Bank (WCB) protocols and ensure compliance with SOPs.
• Perform Mycoplasma and sterility testing on production batches to confirm contamination absence.
• Analyze QC data and effectively communicate results to management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve functional issues affecting product performance as needed.
• Prepare reagents and cell culture media using aseptic techniques.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and reagent inventories, and document procedures in lab notebooks.
• Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute data presentations.
• Create or update QC Standard Operating Procedures as necessary.
• Oversee organization and upkeep of ligand stock libraries in compliance with Lean methodology.
• Ensure laboratory cleanliness and orderliness are consistently maintained.
• Undertake any other duties assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant life science field.
• Minimum of two years' industrial experience in culturing multiple cell lines and performing cell-based assays.
• Proficient with cell culture and sterile techniques.
• Competent in applying basic chemistry and mathematics to solution preparation and cell suspension formulation.
• Strong understanding of biochemistry and cellular biology fundamentals.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational capabilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Document work accurately following SOPs and good laboratory practices.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and cryopreservation techniques.
• Familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, or other digital tools for sample and reagent tracking is advantageous.
• Experience plating with automated liquid dispensing in 96- or 384-well formats is desirable.

Work Conditions and Benefits

• Full-time schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
• Lab-based role in a BSL1/2 environment with potential exposure to human tissue and fluids.
• No travel requirements.
• Competitive hourly pay range: $35 to $40 per hour.
