Job description
Overview
Prince Sultan University in Riyadh is hiring qualified faculty for the Preparatory Year Program (PYP) for the 2026-2027 academic year. The opening is for a PYP English Lecturer/Instructor (Male) role within the Academic category.
The Preparatory Year Program is a one-year bridge between school and university. It helps students strengthen the numerical, language, digital, practical, and study skills they need to perform well in higher education. The program brings together experienced faculty and administrative staff in a supportive environment with both academic and extracurricular activities.
Academic background and teaching profile
Candidates should have a Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English Language Teaching, or a closely related discipline. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in English or a related subject plus a recognized postgraduate teaching qualification such as CELTA or an equivalent credential is acceptable.
All academic qualifications must come from an accredited university and must have been completed in person as a full-time student.
Applicants should have teaching experience in English at the university level or in a foundation/preparatory program, ideally with A1 to B1 CEFR learners. Experience with Saudi or Gulf-region EFL learners, or a clear understanding of EFL teaching contexts, is also important.
Role expectations
The lecturer/instructor will contribute to the academic and developmental objectives of the Preparatory Program. This includes supporting curriculum development, assessment work, committee participation, professional development initiatives, and student support activities.
The teaching load is 20 contact hours per semester. Strong English communication is essential because instruction, assessment, and academic advising are all delivered in English.
Skills and working style
Applicants need strong classroom management skills, good interpersonal ability, and effective communication skills for mixed-ability classrooms. They should also be comfortable using educational technology and information systems for teaching, assessment, and course administration.
Application process and notes
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, CV, bachelor’s and master’s certificates, transcripts, and the names of two references. Applications are reviewed as they arrive, and the university will continue accepting them until the positions are filled.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. Applications missing any required documents will not be considered.
Employment terms and benefits
This is a one-year renewable contract, with renewal depending on the Dean/Director and student evaluations. Compensation is a competitive salary package based on academic qualification, rank, and teaching experience.
Additional benefits include medical insurance for the employee and eligible dependents living in the Kingdom (spouse and up to 4 children below 24 years old), a transport allowance, round-trip annual leave tickets for up to 4 family members (employee, spouse, and 2 children below 18 years old), and paid annual summer vacation of 2 months. Two local paid holidays of about 15 days each are also provided where applicable.
Tuition support of up to 30,000 Saudi Riyals is available for children studying within the Kingdom, with final details set out in the contract. Free furnished accommodation with essential utilities and maintenance may be provided depending on availability; if not, a housing allowance will be given according to academic rank. End-of-service yearly gratuity starts in the second year of continuous service, provided the employee has completed at least 2 years.
