About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and organised Purchasing Assistant to join our expanding construction company based in Galway. This full-time, permanent role is ideal for junior to mid-level professionals seeking to enhance their career in the construction procurement field. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting project execution through procurement tasks, supplier liaison, and supply chain management of materials and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in gathering supplier quotations and conducting price comparisons.
- Support the procurement process for construction materials and handle purchase order processing.
- Manage order progression from placement to delivery stages.
- Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
- Help source and coordinate plant, equipment, and site needs efficiently.
- Develop and maintain solid relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assist project teams with procurement planning and administrative purchasing duties.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchasing documentation and records.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, administration, or related roles within construction is preferred.
- Knowledge of construction materials, engineering, or building supply chains would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational aptitude with keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and relationship management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic work environment.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
- A motivated and eager learner with a can-do attitude.
