Job description

Role overview

This role is focused on helping build realistic enterprise-style digital environments that can be used to train and test advanced AI systems. As a public health specialist, you will recreate the kinds of workspaces, documents, and workflows used in day-to-day public health practice so that the resulting scenarios reflect real-world complexity and accuracy.

What you will do

  • Create an authentic digital workspace using your own files, folders, and tools, such as surveillance summaries, grant proposals, policy briefs, program evaluation documents, and outbreak reports.
  • Develop multi-step tasks based on actual public health workflows that require working across several platforms, documents, and stakeholders.
  • Partner with other public health experts to define the environment, set task boundaries, and check that scenarios are both realistic and rigorous.
  • Work independently with research teams to improve task design and evaluation standards for public health benchmark development.
  • Help advance frontier research by producing outputs that shape how leading labs train and measure next-generation intelligent systems.

Candidate profile

The ideal professional has experience in a federal health agency, a large state or county health department, a major academic school of public health, or a Fortune 500 population health organization. Deep practical knowledge in one or more of the following areas is important: epidemiology and surveillance, outbreak investigation, health policy or program evaluation, population health management, grants administration, or environmental and occupational health.

Hands-on familiarity with tools such as Esri ArcGIS, SAS or MATLAB, and Socrata or ArcGIS Hub is expected. You should also be able to turn complex public health workflows into clear, structured task specifications, with strong analytical thinking and written communication skills. An MPH, PhD, or DrPH is preferred, and biostatistics or GIS experience is considered an advantage.

Compensation and engagement

This is a contract, independent-contractor engagement. Compensation is $1,100 to $1,450 for each completed task. Performance bonuses are available, and top contributors may later move to an hourly pay model. The work is remote and offers a flexible schedule. The engagement is ongoing, subject to performance-based continuation.

Application process

Interested candidates are asked to use the easy-apply process. Candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted with the following steps.
