Job description

Position Overview

The Project Scheduler plays a critical role supporting a large-scale SAP ERP implementation for a federal agency by developing, updating, analyzing, and enhancing program schedules. These schedules encompass Agile and hybrid Agile methodologies such as sprint cycles and program increments, ensuring program delivery is well-planned and forecasted. The role involves close collaboration with Agile teams, product owners, functional leads, and PMO leadership to maintain schedule accuracy, identify risks, and offer actionable insights for decision-making.

This position is based at CGI Federal offices in Fairfax, VA, with hybrid work flexibility requiring two days onsite weekly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain the Integrated Master Schedule reflecting Agile rhythms including sprints, release increments, and key milestones.
  • Translate Agile artifacts like stories, backlogs, and sprint commitments into detailed, time-phased scheduling elements.
  • Manage schedule dependencies, logical links, resource allocations, and constraints across program workstreams.
  • Update schedules regularly incorporating feedback from sprint retrospectives, team velocity, and evolving scope.
  • Align key events such as sprint calendars and PI planning cycles with the master schedule.
  • Support program increment planning with scheduling scenarios, capacity analyses, and delivery forecasts.
  • Map Agile deliverables to contractual milestones and identify critical path elements and dependencies.
  • Conduct critical-path and variance analyses to proactively surface schedule risks.
  • Generate dashboards, metrics, forecasts, and holistic delivery views for leadership consumption.
  • Coordinate with PMO leaders to assist with staffing and forecast planning.
  • Work collaboratively with technical teams, PMO staff, and government partners to maintain a synchronized scheduling baseline.
  • Present schedule insights and recommendations during program leadership and PMO meetings.
  • Ensure schedule reflects changes due to design reviews, data migration, development tasks, testing, and release preparedness.
  • Adhere to program standards for version control, reporting, and documentation.
  • Assist in preparation for audits, reviews, and government reporting processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen eligible to obtain and maintain DHS/CISA EOD or Public Trust clearance; successful background check required before employment.
  • Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project scheduling for complex, large-scale programs.
  • Proficient in Jira for Agile project management.
  • Experienced with Agile or hybrid Agile frameworks such as Scrum, SAFe, or Disciplined Agile.
  • Skilled in scheduling software like MS Project, Project Online, Primavera, or equivalents.
  • Ability to convert Agile concepts like sprints and program increments into comprehensive, time-phased schedules.
  • Experienced in dependency mapping, critical-path scheduling, and schedule risk evaluation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to function effectively in dynamic settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to federal projects or large system integration efforts.
  • Familiarity with ERP/SAP or enterprise transformation scheduling environments.
  • Experience interfacing with PMO and project leadership teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMI-SP, PMP, SAFe Agilist, or equivalents.
