Job description
Mission and Position Overview
This role is based in Berlin with full-time hours (100%). The salary is structured according to the TVöD Bund pay scale at grade E10. The Project Officer will report to the Head of the Sub-Saharan Africa Unit and Senior Project Manager within the General Regional Peace Support Department.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the organization, coordination, and implementation of project activities closely with the Sudan team and associated partners.
- Perform background research and provide concise summaries on conflict-related topics as required by the team.
- Support content preparation and organization of workshops and dialogue meetings held in Berlin and East Africa.
- Collaborate with Finance Managers and logistics colleagues to ensure accurate financial reporting and support project administrative activities.
- Participate in donor reporting and follow up on administrative and financial procedures as needed.
Required Knowledge, Experience, and Competencies
- Possession of a Master’s degree in relevant disciplines such as Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations, or related fields.
- Initial work experience in international and multicultural environments, particularly in event coordination, budget management, and task organization.
- Preferably possess regional expertise related to Sudan or the Horn of Africa, as well as thematic knowledge about dialogue, mediation processes, and gender-focused programming.
- Fluency in English and Arabic, both spoken and written, is essential.
- Strong organizational capabilities, excellent intercultural and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in high-level professional contexts.
- Demonstrate curiosity, empathy, passion, dedication, and persistence.
- Willingness and availability to travel to East Africa.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
